Trains, Trams, Trolleys (and some buses)

Comments/corrections to: Dewi Williams In the late 1940s I was given a 35mm camera and a large reel of slightly out-of-date film. I shot thousands of negatives (and positives). I am now "mining" this resource, scanning, editing and annotating; most of these pages are based on those photos. WARNING: many of the pictures are "raw", as-scanned. I'll be editing and re-touching each as I get to it, but I wanted to display all the photos for the years 1946 to 1956 as soon as possible. I learned steam engine driving on the Bluebell Railway, on the Footplate Days and Ways course.
There are pictures of conduit tracks in Manhattan in Joe Brennans's Tracks on Broadway.
The Light Rail Transit Association, under its former name of the Light Railway Transport League, was the original UK advocacy group for trams & light rail: see www.lrta.org for lots of stuff on modern light rail plus some historical info.
Trams have returned to London! See the Croydon Tramlink .
Some cities use buses rather than rail vehicles for a rapid transit system: see Jim McAteer's Bus Rapid Transit site
